I like the idea of them having my DNA on file.
It means that when they are looking for men matching my description for a crime I will be instantly eliminated by DNA evidence probably without having to explain what I was doing to anyone.

Feel free to give them permission to keep yours then.

Agree with OP, about f
king time!I have little faith in our justice system delivering the correct punishment, but I do have an awful lot of faith in the integrity of the system to charge the right people with most crimes.

It really isn't a troll post, it is my opinion. Tell me what is wrong with someone having your DNA on record.

That's about the size of it and thankfully our government agrees.
Like I said, if you want your DNA kept on file so you can be eliminated from enquiries, go volunteer your DNA. You won't though, will you?

You mean despite the fact that the government loose every kind of data imaginable, from 7 million claimant's names and addresses, to top secret iraq invasion plans, and everything inbetween?Tell me what is wrong with someone having your DNA on record.

Horrendous monster rapes and murders numerous children (or commits any crime, feel free to add your own)Tell me what is wrong with someone having your DNA on record.
DNA left at scene.
DNA match comes up inconclusive but you're near enough (DNA isn't a magic bullet, nor is it foolproof; CSI is fiction)
And all of a sudden your life is f
ked because you're the named prime suspect in a child rape case.Sure, you're cleared because there's insufficient evidence, but s
t sticks and you can't unpublish your name and picture in the local rag.PintOfKittens said:

Fair enough. I don't plan on offering it but if they had it I wouldn't be concerned.

I have not seen a valid (I emphasise valid as many are purile) arguement against it!! I fear HMG has been suckered into this one in exchange for an easy ride somewhere else....

“Any biology undergraduate could perform this,” said Dan Frumkin, lead author of the paper, published in the journal Genetics. The paper asserts that the possibility of DNA evidence being fudged to finger someone else has been overlooked by law enforcement, which has come to rely on DNA matching as a centerpiece of conviction and exoneration of criminal suspects.

I certainly will be volunteering mine. Why, becasue I have nothing to hide, want to help out the establishment wherever reasonably possible and if I can ever be one suspect cleared off a list in a nanosecond then it would have been worth it.
Let us know when you have volunteered your DNA, theres a good boy.

Go on, go and invalidate or show to be puerile my argument, a couple of posts up.boredofmyoldname said:

Wiki said:
Shirley McKie is a former Scottish police detective who was wrongly accused by fingerprint analysis staff of the Scottish Criminal Record Office (SCRO) of leaving her thumb print on the bathroom door frame of a murder crime-scene in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, on 14 January 1997. [1][2] She denied she had ever been in the house of murder victim Marion Ross, but Detective Constable McKie was initially suspended, then sacked, then arrested by Strathclyde Police in 1998, and tried and acquitted in 1999. A scandal subsequently developed because of allegations of misconduct on the part of the SCRO and the police.

"Many are puerile" - Yours is red-top scaremongering quoting an extremely unlikely occurence to influence the uneducated IMHO
So that'd be a "no, I can't invalidate it", then.So what if it's extremely unlikely? So is me dying prematurely, but I've still got life insurance.
I drive on some of the safest roads on the planet, but every year, 3000-odd people have an unfortunate death experience, which is also "extremely unlikely".
You have no logical position from which to argue, so your tactic is to dismiss and belittle any argument put forward by people with whom you disagree.
