As we all know, when a soldier dies in Afghanistan it is mentioned in the Commons at PMQ.
First of all the PM expresses regret.
Then the Leader of The Opposition.
Then the MP for the constituency of the fallen soldier is allowed by the speaker to say a few words.
Except today nothing was said by the MP.....because the MP wasn't there.... Give you three guesses who the MP is??
The bloke really is a f
king t
t. I would call him something worse but I believe the man to be mentally ill... actually f
k it. To think he was Prime Minister. Remember how many times he stood up and said that he was fully behind our armed forces? Even worse, a huge number of people thought that re-electing the waste of flesh & oxygen was a good idea just proves how f
ked up this country is. Unless one of his children was seriously ill, there is no excuse at all for his non-attendance today. There are not many people who I would cheerfully punch in the face if I ever met them but he is one.
He should be tried for criminal negligence for the way he ran this country and given the option of blowing his own brains out, in public so we can watch and all cheer. I'm sure after this there are plenty of servicemen who will pass him a SIG.
What a prick.

(Sorry if this is a repost, just got very angry about this.)

It's a very new tradition and I for one would like to see PMQs remain exactly that.Soldiers killed fighting for their country never used to be named in parliament
and I find it distasteful politicians should incorporate this practice into a parliamentry session before going on to lie through their teeth about whatever they choose.
Brown's a
and so is Blair,the
who started this.

Feel free to correct me but I don't believe that is the normal procedure.http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-edinburgh-ea...

I think it is along the lines of:
The PM express his condolences etc on behalf of the government and his party.
The MP with first question to the PM (not normally the opposition leader) echoes the PM's remarks.
The leader of the opposition when it is his turn will also express his condolences on behalf of his party.
In the days before the coalition the leader of the Lib Dems would do likewise and also any other party leader whom may be asking a question.
Naturally any other MP with a connection the the fallen serviceman or woman would probally make a comment too if they were called to put a question to the PM.

I think Winky did right here by not using a death to score political points.
If you had a relative killed would you want Winky involved.
Nail - head. I'd hate to be a politician at the moment - if one of your constituents is killed in action do you go to the repatriation at Brize Norton, stand with the crowds at Wooton Bassett, go to the funeral? I would imagine the minute a politician went to pay their respects they would be slated. Even if they wanted to go it would just be seen as grandstanding. Stay away and they are lacking respect. If you had a relative killed would you want Winky involved.
