Save Our Harrow Road Shops
"We the undersigned call on Westminster City Council to remove the parking enforcement camera outside 547 Harrow Road. Traders say they are already losing business and fear they may be forced to close down following the installation of the parking enforcement camera. Some customers who have parked their car for a few minutes while they pop in to buy something have already been fined by the Council. In the current economic climate the last thing that traders need is a parking enforcement camera to deter customers."
This from a 'politician' whose party did more than any other to give the self-serving ponces of metropolitan town halls legislative power to essentially speaking, do wtf they want with motorists and their wallets.

All good. Hopefully the Conservatives cuts will force councils etc to cut all this manner of wasteful crap and get back to just being efficient with their money!

Ms Buck, who was speaking at a public meeting in Islington, north London, also accused the Tories of being “deeply hostile” to the idea of lower income families having children
No, what they're hostile to is them having 6 children which end up being funded entirely by state benefits...Jasandjules said:
Sorry, people get £400 a WEEK in housing benefit? HOW?
what the hell are they living in, my mortgage is no-where near that, it still isn't if i add my bills in, including sky with HD and multi-room FFSi know London is expensive, but if the money available to people is adjusted down then unless there is a glut of non dss people looking to rent etc then prices will have to come down as well surely?

Where have you two been?
Local authorties have a duty to house people in appropriate housing, There are limits for 1, 2, 3 etc bedroom properties.
The current limits are about to be reduced - which is what the furore is about as HB recipients currently renting at £400 a week will need to make do on less - so face possible eviction.
Boris is asking for a London exemption as it will lead to a possible (though unliekly if you ask me) 84,000 evictions.
FAOD, I am very anti HB. The system is exloited to bits - but in London there are many many workers (ie not sofa dwelling, Jeremy Kyle addicts leeching of you and me) who qualify for HB to enable them to live in the city where they work. Teachers, nurses, junior doctors etc.
Seems to me London rents are too high. I wonder why, when a LA can be charged the stat maximum for a property by private landlords and take no steps to negotiate lower rents.
