I think this is utterly terrible that this young man who would never hurt a fly has been framed for stealing a one million pound violin and then trying to sell it one for £100.

And even more disgusting he has been framed 123 times before.

I am utterly appalled at the police doing such a terrible thing.

123 Offences, why has he not been locked up for good? Is he to be "rehabilitated"?

This is nothing, Google Sam Vinden, if you can find any articles that haven't been deleted (use Google cache).

Just to set the scene:

In 2007 Sam Vinden and Chris Line kidnapped, tortured and assaulted a man. The trial was dropped on the second day with no explanation: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cac...

Google said:
The case against the pair, formerly of Oak Lane, Crays Hill, collapsed at Basildon Crown Court on the second day when a joint police and CPS public interest immunity application was agreed by the court - the reason for which has never been disclosed.
Jump to Feb 2009 and they're arrested for the double murder of two men on a traveller site: http://www.southendstandard.co.uk/news/echo/891839...

In March it's reported they're released on bail. For the double murder!

On the 28th March the police send out Osman warnings to various people informing them their lives might be in danger: http://www.echo-news.co.uk/news/8937173.Cops_fear_...

4th April it's reported that Chris Line has been arrested, again, for attempting to set fire to someone elses house on March 16trh. This is after being released on bail for a double murder: http://www.echo-news.co.uk/news/local_news/basildo...

Seriously, WTF is going on here? Why aren't these two on remand?

To echo Finlandia it just beggars belief that somebody could have 123 previous convictions and still be happily out and about on the thieve.
123!
Seriously, just how many times can a person be 'given another chance' in this country now?

I'm sorry but that's clear indication that our legal systems and juries are biased against honest, slat of the earth travelling folk such as him

Also, the Police have said:

"We believe the items could still be held within the travelling community and it is also possible they will be offered for sale within the antique or musical trade, either in England or in Ireland."

Well that can't be right can it? Surely, any other upstanding member of the travelling community who hears about this would immediately hand in the violin and condemn this 'one bad apple' in their midst?

I have to say I'd have reservations about walking around London with a £1.2m violin and a £62k bow..

Really hope they're found and returned safely, however unlikely that scenario is.

You'd have to be a car nerd to get the halogen reference, but then I figured we're on a car nerd forum. biggrin

I was at music college with Minnie in the 90s and she was lovely girl, no need for that nono

As for walking around London with a fiddle worth that much - how are you supposed to get to gigs!? You can hardly have your own personal bodyguard... I am intrigued to how it happened, I don't know any musos who will even put down their instrument let alone allow it out of their sight.

Instruments like this (and bows) are worth so much because they are irreplaceable. Also you develop a bond with an instrument as you can imagine playing it for several hours a day. Certainly not just a case of "get another". Poor girl must be going spare.

If I was walking around London with an easy to steal item worth £750000, then yes I probably would hire a body guard.

The violin did not belong to her, it was on loan, I believe.
