I thought to post here that Ted Lowe, the "voice" of snooker has died.

http://news.uk.msn.com/uk/articles.aspx?cp-documen...

"Whispering Ted" introduced the Nation to the game on TV as the commentator on Pot Black. Many are too young to remember how colour TV made snooker. People couldn't get enough of the bright colours on their new sets.

And, who can ever forget his famous line?

""And for those of you who are watching in black and white, the pink is next to the green,"

Now he's Gone to the Great "in off" in the sky.

Probably sipping a pint in the Bank Holiday after-life sunshine with Alex Higgins!

...and, of course, his brother Captain Mainwaring IIRC.

No relation to Arthur AFAIK. Wikipedia makes no mention.
