I won't be voting. I am no longer convinced that democracy is the best form of government and think we should try something else. A benevolent dictatorship or anarcho-capitalism are both worth a try IMO.
The problem with democracy is that it doesn't always produce the correct result.

After a year and a bit of considering it, i just paid my UKIP membership.
Partly spurred on by this thread.

Being under 22 means it only cost £2.
Bargain!

That's age discrimination! biggrin We have to pay 30 quid.

Young kippers (under 22) get party information by electronic means only - why shouldn't us older ones, I don't need it in the post too? And 'young' kippers up to age of 34 (34 young?) also get free membership of the 'youth' wing.

All very clever ploy I suppose.

That's what all the other parties will say after the Euros and then after the GE in 2015! hehe

I suspect many Tories will want to dump CMD and when they realise he won't be going (unless he get's Rompuy's job this time next year) they'll be jumping ship - one way only!

People hate being on the losing side in this country. Watch the UKIP momentum gather pace as the year goes on if Dave is still at the helm and things (economy, immigration, nhs etc) don't improve.
I only agree with the first part of this. UKIP will do very well at the Euro elections, indeed they may even come top, but their support is mainly 'protest vote' in nature and it will not hold up at the general election.

The Tory campaign message in blue seats which UKIP are targeting will be "Vote UKIP, get Labour / Libdem". This will be enough to persuade most right-wing voters that the only way to stop a Labour victory is to vote Tory.
I won't be voting CMD I will be voting for UKIPs policy's on all sorts of issues mainly the green and EU ones
It is not a protest vote ..

This^^^

And another point (being made by some media) is it is not just Tory voters who are disillusioned - many Labour voters are now showing intentions of switching. The old 'voted this all my life' is changing. Those of us old enough have lived the 2 party system (Lib/Dems will be exterminated next time) know it is at the end of its sell-by date.

In fact, there is no 2 party system, they are the same.
The bloody great big 'GREEN' apple hangs from the Red tree and the Blue tree!

We WANT change.

There is only one way to get it.

A vote for UKIP is likely to result on a coalition that won't contain the Tories. How many PHers want that?

No idea who I'll vote for at the moment. As usual I'll read the manifestos and assess the local candidates to try to decide who'll best represent me.

Here it's likely to be a LibDem vs Tory fight with the incumbent stepping down.

Tory boy all my life but Cameron is just too wet behind the ears, also had enough of the EU meddling and completely uncontrolled immigration from all over the world. UKIP for me but they need some more credible characters to jump ship, as good as Farage is, they are currently a one man band. Still willing to giving him that chance such is the disillusionment with the current lot.

I would suggest that's very unlikely....

Tory prior, now UKIP.

Cameron lacks any convictions and I don't have any respect for him, despite all of Gideons efforts in donning a hard hat and popping down to JCB to show an export success... all evidence shows that the economic recovery is a farce and built on debt and another house bubble. The coalition has spent an awful amount and not very wisely.

Personally, I don't think it will make a difference. The mainstream parties are all pretty much the same, same policies, same objectives, slightly different spin.

I'm tempted to vote UKIP for the simple reason that they have enough traction to remind the complacent mainstream professional politicians that they have to earn votes, not take them for granted. A kick in the nads is good for them.

Similar to how many feel - a lot of LibDem voters used them as a protest vote against the main two, many of these votes are expected to move to UKIP.

If you posted a link to this in the Ford section I think you would find quite a few staunch Labourites jumping ship too. Definitely the most resounding force in UK politics currently, Cameron seems to be running scared and plagiarising policies while Wallace seems to have that usual smugness that I hope comes back to bite him and hard.

I think I'll wait for the manifestos, how have you guys already decided when you don't know what the parties will be doing?

Despite never missing an opportunity to vote in National and local Govt elections since I turned 18 I'm seriously considering joining the why bother camp as they're all useless just in different ways.
