I suspect the "strangeness" of voting UKIP will diminish somewhat once a national newspaper endorses them... the Sun perhaps?

I don't see anyone worthy of the ink in the pen, let alone the effort of walking to the polling station.

For me a red line preventing me from returning to the Tories is Cameron - he needs to go before I consider them again.

So actual policies can wait? I suppose you voted for Blair.

Either way - we must defeat Labour - don't split the UKIP vote by voting Tory in 2015!

I didn't expect such a large UKIP vote
Would be interesting to compare with the previous poll on PH showed, if anyone can find it...
Both these threads were started around the same time (just before the last GE).

edit:

A more recent poll from April 2012. The trend is obvious.

The right wing PH vote is pretty consistent at about 80% with the lefties only getting about 10%, shame it isn't representative of the national picture.

Worst case scenario for me is the right wing vote getting split allowing a Labour or Labour/Lib Dem government to fk things up again.

rofl You realise the manifesto is not what Lab/Con will do? it is merely what their well paid strategists think is needed in writing to get enough gullible fools to vote for them. U-Turns are a speciality.

If that happens so be it.

Something needs to be done to kick the Tories hard enough to make them realise killing thousands of our elderly based upon lies and taxation excuses is a f*8*ng disgrace.

I can't imagine the mess if EdX2 get in and I don't think I agree with some of the UKIP core beliefs. So it's Tory for me but I'm moving to a new area soon which could throw up all sorts of surprises.

2005 for example was the only time I've not voted Tory:

ETA: I don't live there any more but voting Troy there did make me feel like an outcast!

Lord Ashcroft's recent polls mirror what we're seeing on here. His polls suggest that 37% of Tory voters have deserted them and around half of them intend to vote for UKIP. 1 in 5 of this 37% will switch to Labour or the Lib Dems with the rest undecided.

Of course May 2015 is a long time away in politics - lots could change however at the moment it isn't looking good for Hug Me Dave.

Interesting to see quite a switch to UKIP from such a Labour orientated paper.

Personally I would rather see the Tories disappear into the wilderness for 5 years and come back a stronger party than the wishy washy shower that I have seen lately.

I bet Cameron (who I don't really like) is kicking himself for not trying to go it alone rather than being held back by the Liberals at every turn.

UKIP

while the Tories have made some in-roads on the deficit and getting the house in order, the rest of it just seems more of the same.

Don't want labour for fear of them sinking us in the black hole.

At least with UKIP while it might end with more of the same at least they got a chance to try make a change. I know many actions and policies are set in stone by EU and previous parties and there's not always something they can do about it.

I think I'll wait for the manifestos, how have you guys already decided when you don't know what the parties will be doing?
Did you read the manifestos before the last election?

I did, so I voted UKIP.

Eta- I intend voting UKIP at the next election.

A few years ago I would have voted Conservative and couldn't understand why anybody would not vote for them. However during this current term I am extremely annoyed with the current shower of idiots who are basing a policy of austerity on incorrect calculations, and part of the policy of cutbacks is aimed at killing sick and disabled people

The trouble is that I don't have a clue which of the offering is least objectionable.

It's interesting reading the different reasons why people have ditched the Tories as to me I couldn't care less about austerity, I don't think it has affected me in one single way, it might be a slightly selfish viewpoint but immigration and cultural decay coupled with the failure to tackle vast Public Sector spending has been my major gripe.
