Anyone had any experience with them? They seem quite competitive and everything seems easy enough. I've received a few attractive quotes but am I going to get shot down if my credit isn't absolutely top shelf?

i am a zopa lender and I can tell you that they have definitely tightened up the vetting of prospective borrowers recently - all the delinquency in my loan book is from borrowers that joined in the early days.

Really? I've never missed any payments and I've had finance before which has been paid off, on the electoral role, had a phone contract for years etc. Only issue is I've just got a new job so my bank statements have been pretty meager lately but that will soon change. What kind of documentation is required?

It'll be in a few week when I apply, but I'd want to be sure I can qualify. Is there a way I can check I'll be granted the loan without going through with the application totally?

No idea about the details of the process, just see the results of it in my lending book

fewer delinquent borrowers must be down to stricter vetting (at least in part)

Ive got a few late and a few bad. Nothing major though. However the returns are not what they used to be, also after tax and inflation there is no point so Im winding out. Will take a few years as the best returns used to be on 3yr, but since the option to bail out for a 1% surcharge was added that door has also been closed. Its probably ok for lower rate tax payers to invest in but pointless for others when a much better deal is the NS and I RPI indexed bonds.

Probably fine for a borrower though, no early repayment fees etc.

I am looking to borrow at the moment really, but possible to lend in the future.

I have borrowed three times from Zopa to cover various requirements. I have paid back all three early normally before 50% of the term.

I have been impressed by the site and the rates etc. My first loan was a good while ago - and to be honest, I didnt have much of a credit rating. But I did fall into the Young category.

I would very much reccommend them.

How was the process each time? Does it take a while for them to reach a decision?

The last time I used it I chose the Fast Track option - which give me a response within 24 hours. In fact, I applied on a Sunday afternoon and had an answer by 15:00pm on Monday. Then the money in my bank by Wednesday.

I've gone for the regular option, did it yesterday afternoon so hopefully will hear something soon.

I had a loan from Zopa for about £4k, it was a marketplace loan.
Never had any issues at all, repaid the loan one year early (So didn't pay interest for a second year.)which was also hassle free.

Unfortunately I'd like another loan again and they've stopped doing marketplace loans, no one else will lend to me.
