Emerging market bonds

Not quite as risky as the name suggests
Do you own dd, read reports on a few funds, check managers etc.
Expect around 6% (that'll give you 500 gross)


There are also Emerging market local currency bonds, slightly different, current offering is around 5%, but there is the attraction of more capital g (along with more vol.)
