Afternoon all...

I missed the Feb/March stampede into Japan but the recent weeks have bought most funds back to July 2010 levels.

Can anyone recommend a Japanese fund that I can buy through H&L?

I'm in for the mid term - 5 - 10 years.

I think now is a good time to buy...might be wrong of course!

HL have their 150 Wealth Funds of which 6 cover Japan, from varying providers including Jupiter. Although a customer of HL I don't have any specific Japanese holding. However, I do hold Jupiter India fund which has done well with the volatility. So purely on that basis I would try the Jupiter Fund if I wanted to directly invest in that area.

I put some money into MDJIA (HSBC Japan tracker) as a cheap (0% buy-in) when things in Japan looked very bad and it's now one of my few investments in the blue (2% up). It's not a managed fund, but that's not necessarily a bad thing - there's no paying a fund manager to lose your money for you ;-)

One of the others holding its head up is Jupiter India as mentioned above. A lot of the companies they're invested in are likely to grow sharply with India's new middle class who in some cases are the first generation to have money in their pockets to put in bank accounts / spend on utilities etc.

I'd go with a tracker or etf.....very hard market for a western fund manager to really out perform.
