Guys

I am looking at making a cheeky offer on a property in Scotland. I'm based in England and I know I could look up an English title deed and see who has a charge on it. What do I need to do for Scottish properties?

Doesn't really matter who has a charge on it as it will be an estate agent or managing agent dealing with the sale of it and they will put offers to the mortgage company. It will be impossible to try to contact the mortgage company directly and get a decision so don't waste your time trying.

When I bought a repo last year the solicitors acting for (Northern Rock) wouldn't return any of my solicitors calls asking to exchange until I threatened to pull out.
