Credit Cards for bad credit?
Discussion
Hi All,
Does anyone have any experience they could offer regarding getting a credit card when your credit score isn't brilliant?
According to everyone I have spoken to my credit score is only lower than usual due to the amount of times i've moved in recent years, I dont have any outstanding debt etc.
can anyone reccomend one to me?
I'll only be using it for emergencies, like any urgent work needed on my car etc. So a massive limit is not essential.
Cheers.

It isn't just your credit score that impacts on whether they will provide one or not. Moving regularly should not really impact on your score as long as you were on the electoral roll at each address. There are plenty of places offering credit cards to those with poor credit just google it but be prepared to pay stupid interest rates
Vanquis should help as mentioned
APR is massive, but pay it off every month (or pay them interest twice a year to keep them sweet) and it should massively help your credit score.
MIght be worth getting your credit files from equifax experixian and call credit just to check they don't have anything untoward on them.

Also you can get a bad credit score if you don't use the card enough/or at all.
I found this out as I have one but have never used it.
That happens with all credit cards. You will be scored with the limits taken into account as in theory you could use up to that limit at any time. If you have credit cards you don't use getting rid of them will improve your score.I found this out as I have one but have never used it.
One thing I would say though especially to the op is that your credit score is not the only thing taken into account when trying to access credit. Make sure you are always on the electoral roll rather than just filling it in when asked, pay of credit as quickly as possible and don't miss any payments. High levels of debt do not impact massively either as long as it is managed well.
