I had a text from a random number last night about a mis-sold PPI:
1) I assume these are just scam artists who are trying it on and want to bother you?
2) I've had a couple of loans in the past, 2 I think, and both times I've turned down the insurance option. Is there anywhere else I could have taken out the insurance? I'm 99% sure I've always turned it down on mortgages and the like.
3) The line about records showing, what are these records? I'm guessing it's just BS?
4) Is there anyway I can confirm that I've been mis-sold this PPI without using what feels like a fincial ambulance chaser?

Msg: Important! Records indicate you are entitled to £3800 from Mis-Sold Loan Insurance (PPI). To claim reply YES to this message. Thank you.
So, a few of questions.1) I assume these are just scam artists who are trying it on and want to bother you?

How the hell would a third party company get your records from the bank, especially when it is not in their best interests to pass on the info ?
Again, I thought that might be the case, but I wasn't sure if there was something they could do to discover. In my defence I've been up since 2am on 3 hours sleep!!

Easy - did you buy PPI? Did you want it and was did it fit your needs? Surely you know if you have purchased a financial product?S
It's a company fishing for clients. Doubt it's a scam but it could be. More likely it's a marketing tactic to get you to contact them and then they can see if you had the PPI. With £10 billion out there to claim back there is a high chance if you had a loan/card you had insurance.
The majority of people don't even know for sure if they had insurance or not.
The misselling comes down to unsuitable products, lack of choice, lack of information and the way they were paid for, i.e. block policies lumped onto loans so you pay interest on it.

Not true
GAP is going to be the new misselling area of focus, though you wont be getting plagued by calls on that as the amount to be claimed is very small (prob average £300) when compared to PPI, so obviously 25% fee of that would be a waste of time to them
Do a Google on GAP insurance misselling

It came from a different mobile number to the other one, I can't think of who I've given my number to of late though...
