New Barclaycard to replace Egg Card

It landed on my doormat this morning... I left it on my digital piano all day on the speaker grill. It won't be activated until 7th November. I'm now wondering if it will work...

Any thoughts?

You're worried about the magnets in the speakers?

I don't think most things are interested in the magnetic stripe these days, are they? All done with the chip which I would imagine (in my uninformed way) shouldn't be affected by magnets.

Might have problems with overseas ATMs etc but on the other hand you'll probably also be safer from false-fronted ATMs here at home.

Yes, sorry, my post was a little vague now that I re-read it.

I guess I'll be ok with it in this country and worry if I need to use it abroad, then!

Maybe my highly magnetised card will ruin those scanning devices, too!

I got one today as well, not happy as I could spot the egg card very easy in the wallet, but the new Barclaycard one looks to similar to my Personel Barclaycard and also my company barclaycard, so its going to have to go in the shredder.

It will certainly be easier to spot a sliced up credit card.

I got the pin number letter today to compliment the card that came last week. I had the Egg card since it was launched and was happy with it. It was different to all the rest.
I'm not happy to be forced into the Barclaycard so I think I will bin it and apply for something else too.

My barclaycard envelope arrived today, I haven't summoned up the enthusiasm to open it, in fact I might not bother. I'll miss the Egg card in my wallet. I have no great desire to give barclaycard any business

I've also had an egg card for years and we do all our monthly spending on it to maximise the cash back. I haven't even looked at the details on the new Barclaycard version, do we still get 1% cashback?

Yes, 1% cashback still applies.

I have received one to replace my Egg Money card. Unfortunately, the terms on that went downhill rapidly. They used to give 4% on a positive balance and negative balance was only 7.8%.
