Hi everyone,

i'm looking into doing my CeMAP,
but can't afford the time off work to go to an intensive course along with the fact i can study better at home.

does anyone have any feedback on the companies that offer the distance learning online?

So many people seem to offer the courses but i can't seem to find any real feedback of who are good and who are naff?

or should i just go the direct IFS route and study from their books?

Any ideas would be great.

Thanks
Adam

I'd study the IFS books for CeMap 1 as it's all fact based knowledge such regulation and financial products.

CeMap 1 & 2 are the application of your knowledge via case studies so it may help you to use an third parties material that you can learn from (past papers etc)

If you are in the industry already 2 & 3 will be pretty easy, as it's just what you do on a day to day basis.

a few sites seem to say to do cemap 2 before 1 then finish with 3,
what do you think of that?

is there anywhere that has past papers to just download?

No idea as I did it all years ago, before you could download stuff of the net!

Are you in the industry already? If your not then you may want to do CeMap 1 first as some places will employ you with just CeMap 1....

been working in finance for years now mainly on the insurance side of things and am in the middle of doing my cemap at the mo. i went the ifs route. cemap 1 is the hardest by far and will take you the longest to learn. there is alot of information to take in. 2 and 3 are no where near as hard as you tend to be using what you already know from doing cemap 1.
good luck in your quest.

cheers guys, i'll go the IFS route for Cemap 1 then look into the others
i think i've just been looking at it as one big thing instead of the 3 smaller aspects.

CeMAP is all multiple choice.
It is, in the words of the prophet, a piece of piss.

Outside of the qualifications, have you looked into the 2 sets of changes coming over the next few years.
THe RDR which doesnt directly affect mortgages, but as st slides downhill will do in some shape or form, and the Mortgage Market Review, which as the name suggests will affect the industry in a big way.

You're looking to join an industry that is very much a rudderless ship at the moment.

Its also full of fknuckles.

amen to that. "it takes a year of on the job training to pass" estate agents told me, so I did it in my own time in 6 weeks flat (would have been quicker if I'd been able to get exam dates sooner).

If your head points in the same direction as your feet, you will pass.

I too am looking at doing cemap. I have an exemption to cemap 1 due to the FPC qualifications I hold, so would only need to sit 2 & 3. The only thing stopping me at the minute is that there seems to not be many jobs out there.
