switching energy suppliers

any tips for this? am with eon on dual fuel and they have switched me onto some crap plan that costs a fotune. went on uswitch and theres so many bits of small print on the offers you wonder if its worth it. tried ringing eon and theres too long a queue grrrrrrr

eg the top switch was to scottish power but prices only guarenteed till end of the year yet a cancellation fee if move by end of next year.

I switched to EDF and im pretty sure they did all the work. Gave them the meter readings they contacted my old supplier with them and you wait for final bills etc... Did it through quidco too so got some money back
