A very quick tax question
Discussion
My wife's employer pays a Christmas bonus each year along with the November salary payment. Depending on how long staff have been there it is either £1k, £2k or £3k.
Due to an "administrative error" my wife only received £1k rather than the £2k she was due. They have apologised and said the remaining £1k will be paid with her December salary payment.
The bonus is added to her salary before tax and NI is deduced on the pay slip.
She's on a salary that is between £21k and £35k
Will she be any better off, worse off or the same after tax as a result of being paid the bonus in two instalments? (I think it'll be no different.)
