Take your mortgage. Divide it by your age.

If it's repayment, multiply by 1
If you have half repayment, or half of it is covered by endowment policies, multiply by 0.5
If you have no way of repaying it, multiply by zero (aka pick the last but one option)

How the fk do you get to a figure that low?

A 40 year old with a £200,000 repayment mortgage gives 5,000.

A 25 year old with a £200,000 interest only mortgage gives 4,000.

A 60 year old with £10,000 left to go gives 166 and 2/3.

Do you just really like diving random numbers by each other for no apparent reason? hehe

Are you one of these people who works out the 'formula' for the perfect cup of tea and then publishes it like it's science?

You need to understand some basic maths before you just start making up stupid, meaningless indexes.

What utter guff.

You need to multiply by the length of your willy and divide by the age you got hairs on your balls.

Seriously though, utter guff.

You'd make more sense by doing "Pete's banana" and post a picture of a *potato.

A formula that doesn't take into account income or value of the asset seems somewhat pointless.

What's that number that everyone always quotes in situations like this? You know, the one off of "The Hitch-hiker's Guide To The Galaxy".

I think it's got a four and a two in it, if that helps.

Surely everyone on here bought their houses for cash?

I paid the deposit in cash but decided the other 200k could be used better elsewhere so I borrowed the balance and with the cash I invested in alcohol.

Don't be stupid. We would have done, but even for such a trivial amount we can use the money to invest and get a better return that the cost of the interest on the mortgage.

Often, we just take on another directorship and use the house cost pocket money to build yet another empire.
