£1000

I've had a bit of an unexpected windfall and am open to suggestions.

First off i'm not just going to blow it. So my thoughts so far are-

1- Stick it in an ISA towards a mortgage deposit...the most boring choice

2- Buy a (second-hand, always wanted a Seamaster) nice watch

3- Buy a nice gun (English 12 Bore, lot's of good stuff about for around a grand)

4- So way of making it work for me? Any safe investments where a relatively small sum would be any use?

Any other sensible suggestions?

I'll take coke and hookers as a given wink

What about a MK1 MX-5!!! Seriously though I doubt you'll loose much money apart from running costs insurance etc.

I suspect the Seamaster is a fairly safe place to put your money.
I've a savings scheme which ends in 15 months in that time I'm thinking Breightling of some sort as I'm hoping they'll always have a value. Or maybe a decent Corrado VR6 as they're appreciating a little for good ones.

I've been and done the Mk1 MX5 thing, the RWD/ragtop thing is now catered for by the Tiv wink

My thinking with the Omega or a nice 12 bore is that they should both be reasonably safe places to put it.

Maybe should have read your profile! Doh

Probably wont be able to get a Seamaster, or a breitling for that... cry

you'll find it tricky to get any 'Grail' watch for that, a nice watch, like a Tissot et al, but not a really special brand.

RE - 4

Safe investments don't lend themselves to small amounts due to low anticipated return.

Punt it dear fellow!!!!

Granted I haven't seen lots about but I have tracked down a couple of dealers selling Seamasters below 1k, granted Quartz not autos.

Indeed, you need to invest in a small share that has a potential to multiply, only then it will make sense, otherwise you are taking the piss - it's only £1k.

Combination of 2 and 3. Buy the nice gun first, the visit the jewellers.
