Just finished reading this book and it is excellent.

Well worth getting if you are an inspiring investor or just interested in how Mr B. made his billions!

Read a bit about him an FT book looking at value-growth investing. A fascinating man, who above all else, appears to be a decent, ethical man.

Indeed he is - and lives an extremely modest lifestyle. I have to admit I would have an F50 as the daily drive if I was that rich! thumbup

I'd make Jay Leno look like he had a tiny collection if I were Buffet.

I like the stories of people who bought Berkshire shares (now the 'A' share) when they were like 19 dollars and held them. Dreams can come true.

As a matter of interest, how long did it take you to read?

I've been throughly enjoying it for nearly two years biggrin The problem is that something else keeps invading my reading space and I see The Snowball more as a demi-textbook, which I can set aside and come back to.

My latest purchase is 'The First Tycoon, The Epic Life of Cornelius Vanderbilt' by T.J. Stiles. Now this is a book that won't get interrupted!

Nobody is perfect, he is a supporter of Obamas "let's tax the rich"
In this regard he is taking advantage of the fact that taxes affect those try to get rich more than those already rich.
Tax is on income not wealth.
There are a few stragegi that I guess he uses like only taking a short gain against a matching loss, making most gains long.(taxed lower rate)

I should have put this on Chris list for Santa, now I have to buy it myself. (and remember to deduct it on my tax return).

But yes I do agree he is very smart and a lot nicer man than Karros.

His public persona may well be nice, but I bet you wouldn't want to be on the other side of his trade. He will screw you sideways.

Of course the lesson is not to get yourself into that distressed state in the first place.

I'm up to page 200

I feel sorry for the guy, pretty crap life so far.
(yes I know it gets betterbiggrin)

The book aside BRK:US is not the standout star it was.
Sequio (SEQUX) has done much better recently, as have a few other core funds.

Good read.

I have read this too, excellent book, although he does live a rather 'strange' life!
One bit I found strange was a group that included Him, Bill Gates and some other high powered individuals could not collectivly decipher "No T P" on a toilet door.

As an individual most cannot name the seventh dwarf, two or three usually can.

Note for those not yet read the book the house in question was a large mansion relitively remote, therefore unlikely to be connected to a sewer, hence septic system.
