4 weeks ago girl in my Mrs work claims back her PPI - Mrs DSL asks how, girl shows her the form

Anna asks MBNA for a form - comes in 3 days

Fills out form and get acknowledgment letter in 4 days

Cheque in post letter for 5 figures arrived today (14 days) with a promise of potential more payments once more checks are made

Painless and fast - I advise anyone to give it a go

She said she thought she had to have it (and she did think that as I hit the roof when i noticed it)

She said this on the form - nothing else was asked - goes back 12 years

Was she actually mis-sold?

She knew she had it because she still pays (paid) it weeping

She had no idea from when it relates to a credit card balance she has lovingly nurtured for years

Bugger me!

After reading this post, I've just realised that I had a credit card with M*NA for a lot more than 10 years - until '09, with balances ranging up tp £8K. Luckily, I've still got the monthly statements, which show PPI being applied.

Letter going off in the morning and I think I owe you a beer!

Apparently my sister has just reclaimed, 7k or something back. I think it was from a mortgage PPI policy, she was married at the time of application and they were both (and were always, and still is) self-employed. I assume a large part of the cover was for redundancy, so it would have been useless. (I think they should have been completely happy with what they were buying, but maybe they were told they had to have it)

ASU/PPI on mortgages needs to have been sold through a broker, it's unlikely a lender would do a block policy.

As for the were you missold questions. It was the standard practice that has been banned (in apr 2009) so anyone who was sold block policies on loans and cards should try to claim. If you want to take the hassle away from doing it just employ a claims company.

How hard is this to do if you're not in the country anymore? I now work in Canada but was mis sold PPI (I was pressured into accepting it and it was implied I wouldn't get the loan otherwise).

Good luck to those who managed to claim money back. But surely a bit more common sense should have been used at the time?. Why would you take out redundancy insurance if self-employed etc. You should have declined it at the time like most people did as it was never going to pay out!!

Most people didn't. And you miss the point.

The point I was making is, why did so many people sign up for policies which would not pay out. I remember declining these schemes years ago as they were not suitable for me & were an obvious rip-off. Or did the salesman hold a gun to the customers head to get them to sign!
