Hi All,

It's time again for home insurance renewal, and now that we are married and have a load of wedge in the form of rings wrapped round our hands, I thought we'd better look into our options.

I desperately do not want an overseas call centre and 4 day wait times. I currently bank with First Direct and credit card with Amex.... I like their call 1 number, no options to press, answered within 20 seconds by someone in the UK who can speak clear english, and don't mess around with a million forms approach.

For the home, we just need contents cover, maybe £30k's worth. Again, accidental damage cover and a low excess would be good.

We also want out of home Theft and Accidental damage (If available) for
- My Watch (Circa £2k value)
- Our camera equipment (Circa £600)
- Our Macbook Pro (Circa £1k)
- Our iPad 2 (Circa £400?)
- My bicycle (Circa £500)
- Our wedding rings, (mine circa £750, the wife's, circa £1600)

Nice to have
- Wallets with card cover...maybe even ID protection... even better if it does that cancelling and re-ordering of ID's, cards etc
- Our 2 Mobile Phones (do any cover call usage as well as handset replacement)

Im guessing we should consider a broker for a good deal, so suggestions would be superb.

Try CIS, we've been with them for years and they paid out with no quibbles when we had a flood last Christmas.

We are with More Than. They offered us a really good price, and covered some expensive jewellery we had. I lost a piece a few months ago and they paid out market value for it straight away. Absolutely faultless.

I use Hiscox. Are they still near-top of their field?
