Does anyone do mortgages for key workers (NHS staff etc)

Does anyone do decent deals for nursey types?
A mate is looking to remortgage after a split so is going down to 1 income on the application but his income isn't the best, even though he can easily manage the current deal he is one (about 1/3 of his take home) I get the feeling he is going to struggle.
Is there anyone out there who offers brownie points for the people that fix us up?
