Which one do you have?
Discussion
Does anyone here have a bank account that doesn't try and sell you something everytime you speak to them?
Mods - can we please leave this here, regardless of it being 'financial' - everyone has an account so hopefully this will reach a larger base.
I have done a little research and looked here:

I seem to remember a lot of people recommending first direct?

I'm with Santander, who have a reputation for being notoriously s
te with their customer service and other issues.
However, apart from the fact I really struggle with their internet banking and now just don't bother with it and go straight to the actual bank (the lass in the bank itself is very friendly, very pretty, half my age and has just fantastic tits)
They don't do any upselling when I do contact them on the phone (at least since they've moved their call centres back from India) and they seem to be making more of an effort to appeasing me as a customer than they did in the last few years.
I'm about to shift into self-contracting work, which will also require changing currency from dollars to pounds. If they f
k this part up, then I will move to Barclays, who apparently have it sorted. Otherwise, happy to stay put.

Nationwide however are actually nice people to deal with.
My banking is very straight forward, all I want / need is a current account, debit card and online savings account which they do briliantly with zero fuss.

Halifax are an excellent bank to deal with, with some of the best customer services I have ever experienced. Never try to sell me crap I don't want/need.
I am with Halifax. Everytime I am on the phone to them or in branch with them I get asked if I wan't an 'no obligation credit card' or something else. I know they are a business but it is rather frustrating and just wondered if all banks do this.Santanders web site works fine for me. Never had the calling to try and sell me stuff but I do get a bit of junk mail from them.
If you travel much their Zero account is great as I don't get charged to use cash machines anywhere in the world.
I do find it a little excessive that they have 3 branches within the space of half a mile in Camberley though.

Im with halifax and to my suprise i was selected out of millions of customers to automaticly qualify for this amazing new credit card. I DONT WANT ONE SO STOP ASKING HALIFAX!!!
Actually I just phoned to transfer money to buy a car and they said "do you need a loan" or money to consolidate debt, I told her the money I just transferred was to buy my thirds un-necessary car so I do not need loans. Her: .... Silence then "Have a nice day"
Perhaps they have some sort of grading for customers who fit a profile or perhaps they just ask everyone on the off-chance (clearly they don't as the above post has no issue).

I would generally agree. The online banking landing page setup means you have to navigate past the loans /mortgages / account upgrade offers etc, but other than that I am fairly happy... No problems here with Natwest, I have a private bank manager (whatever that is) for anything "outside the box", the online service is excellent - including access to my accounts from iPhone and iPad for 99% of stuff I do. No one trys to sell me anything, unless I ask about a particular product.

These top accounts like Llyods private one that schmalex has requires £100k salary, I don't take that much out of the business as salary so I will stick to a freebie account.TSB. Been with them 20+ years
Every time I step into a branch they try & sell something.
First time they did it a couple of years ago. At the counter with big queue behind me. Lady at counter tells me there is a flag on my account & I need to see the manager straight away. So there's me waiting and rather embarrassed assuming what people in the queue could be thinking. After 5 min wait get called into the managers office...'what's wrong? Has my account been hacked or something'
No Mr .. Can you tell me when your mortgage, car & home insurance are up for renewal ? We offer very competitive deals........tw*t!
