Cashback Petrol Cards
Discussion
Anybody use these types of cards?
Just been sent this link for the Santander Petrol Cashback card:

Correct me if im wrong but you pay for your petrol on the card and then pay the balance off before the Interest charges hit, if you do this you then get 3% of what you have purchased transfered back to your bank.
I probably wont save a massive ammount as I only do around 8k a year but could be benefical for some on here.

But the account costs £2 a month so you need to make sure your saving more than covers that - it'll more than likely not be worth it...
I got one of these cards when it came out and the first two months' cash back covered the yearly fee of £24 so it is just free money every month after that (as long as you pay the card off in full every month). A V-Power addiction gives £9 a month every month and you get cash back on your supermarket shopping too.I looked at the Santander card and decided against it.
The reasons were as follows:
1. You are limited to £9 per month claimback.
2. The card costs £2 per month.
However, the above was not the issue as clearly there is a profit in it if you use wisely.
The key thing was the fact that they will (probably) have something stating they reserve the right to increase the £2 fee (and I guess they will do that) and they will (probably) state that they can reduce the commission too. Eventually, you will be paying £5 per month and getting £3 per month cashback.
Therefore, for the small savings I thought (for me) it wasn't worth the hassle.
