Barclays rant...
Discussion
Afternoon everyone...
So, I sold my house last week and paid in around £9000 into a joint current account (we're planning to spend it fairly soon, so pointless opening a savings account for now). Anyway, since the cheque went in, i've had 8 calls from Barclays, all of which i've missed as I don't have access to my phone mobile during the day. So I called it back after the 3rd or 4th call, and it went to a general message saying they were trying to offer me some 'general products', at the end of the message there was a number to call to opt out.
So I called the number on Firday to complain about the calls, the guy said he'd take me off the list and I wouldn't receive any more calls. Saturday morning, 9:20, they rung. So called back again, spoke to a supervisor who said i'm defo off the list, it takes 48 hours to kick in. Fair enough. So 1pm today, another missed call, I called them back at 2 to find out whats happening, to which the Indian fella says it takes 8 weeks to have a number removed from a dial list
So after plenty of moaning and complaining, i'm almost at the point where I want to switch banks. I'd expect they will all be the same, but after 13 years with no problems at all, they really are pissing me off. They couldn't even specify what they were offering. The number they called from is an 0800 number that ends 652...
Anyone else had any similar experiences? Anyway to stop them? I would love to be able to catch one of the calls to answer, but its near impossible during the day...
(although I have specifically posted in the Finance forum (perhaps a higher standard of PH
) i'm still prepared for the cool story bro banter...

They then proceeded to tell me they could not help because my signature did not match. Even though i had my passport etc...they wanted my signature to match the one that was used to open my first account.....when I was 12 years old!!! How the f

It's only 2 years ago

Barclays at the start of last week decided to debit my business account (i'm self employed) the sum of £40 for payment protection, I telephoned them as soon as I spotted it and they confirmed it was a mistake as obviously never asked for it and, in the words of the chap I was speaking with "with all that is going on at the moment with PPI we wouldn't have sold any to you anyway!", it has now been a week and I am still waiting for the money to be refunded!

They can smell money and want to keep hold of it that is why.
I moved from Nat West to First Direct for just this reason. They made me wait for about a hour whilst someone tried to sell me loads of crap I didn't want despite the fact I told them the money was a house deposit. I then had a lot of trouble withdrawing a couple of grand and in the end left. This was after 10+ years of business with them (and a company account too). Can't say enough positive stuff about First Direct.

Good luck with that, Barclays said they owed me £4.5k in PPI money 7 months ago - I'm still waiting for it.Seems my paperwork is stuck in limbo and nobody can do anything until the next person does something, and it goes round and round and round and round and....

I moved to first direct after barclays continually paid standing orders etc late. No matter how many times I spoke to them about it they always sent them on random dates and never when they were supposed to. I had even factored a time buffer in to prevent this and yet they still couldn't get it right.
