I'm looking at setting up a Stocks and Shares ISA but managing the investments myself.
Has anyone got any good recommendations on platforms that enable you to do this.

I was looking at this: http://www.selftrade.co.uk/services/personal-deali...
Does anyone have any experience with Selftrade, are there any good alternatives?

Thanks

I'm with Hargreaves Lansdown and I am pretty sure they will let you do what you want. The website is very easy to use and you can manage it all online.

there are many ...I used my own banks for a while - Lloyds, but it wasnt as flexible for trading on other markets

since then use TD Waterhouse ..its very flexible

check the fees and then its really a case of if you like user interface, is it reliable etc

I have used self trade for some time and they cover most things i want to invest in. it is very hard to find a platform that covers every share and fund you can think of.

I'd have a look at Barclays stockbrokers, can be very cheap indeed if you're very active trading.

Also they've got some excellent tools to help in the decision making process.

If you want flexibility this is pretty much as good as it gets....I did quite a bit of research https://www.transact-online.co.uk/

They also let you hold cash in your ISA pending investment which a lot of providers won't.

It's not really set up for frequent traders i.e. if you want to trade sevaral times a day or in the next five minutes but if you want to buy shares/bonds that are for example listed or traded overseas they are very flexible. I also use them for my SIPP.....I've not had a "we can't do that" answer from them and I've got some fairly escoteric assets in it....bonds denominated in Yuan for example.

I've had my shares ISA with them for a few years without any problems.
