Reclaiming care home fees
Discussion
My mum is in a bupa home because she has vascular dementia, she is in a bupa home because after visiting 7 homes this was the one that suited her best.
We pay 100% of her bill using mums sold house proceeds - its fast running out as the burn is near £50k a year
A claim company has taken her details and thinks its a winnable case to reclaim 4 years of fees
They take 25% plus vat of anything they get
Has anyone done this or own a home and is aware of the reclaim complexity ?
Grateful for any advice as I want to keep her in this home

There are a lot of companies who have sprung up offering these services
I would say that 25% is very high, if as you state mum has been in care for 4 years at circa 50k then you are looking to pay £50k for their services.
You do not need to be a solicitor to reclaim fees, you do not even need to be a Nurse, you do however need to understand the terminology and also be savvy when it comes to what the local PCT will do when challenged and how to reply appropriately.
A google of "Continuing Health Care" will bring up loads of info if you are stuck drop me a mail i will let you know a few companies i am aware of who have been successful
Sorry i am on holiday so don’t have details to hand.
