This will probably be easier for the single people without kids... I'm just curious to learn how much people spend on living expenses every month.

This should exclude mortgages/ rent, utility bills, mobile phone, loan repayments etc. But include food, entertainment, fuel etc.

Fuel should be listed separately.

So for me it would be £300 + £230 Fuel

The £300 mostly consist of food shopping, cinema trips, magazines, clothes etc.

As a minimum probably £90 on food a month, £100 on petrol.

One night out can easily double that though.

This makes no sense whatsoever - for example, why leave out phones? What are the loan repayments paying for?

What the hell - I spend about 1k per month, nearer 2k if holidays are factored in. I spend nothing on fuel as I get it for free (Middle East).

god knows - i probably get £200 out of the cash machine once a week to pay for lunches and booze (and taxis etc)

supermarket shopping is done by SWMBO so god knows how much that costs

my car costs more than my mortgage though lol !

Up until about 4 months ago, circa £600 per month: fuel, clothes, nights out, meals out with the OH. I work hard and saw being able to spend what I want (within reason and not on credit) as something of a reward.

Now, having saved towards a mortgage and just put an offer in for our first house: £250 per month absolute max.

Once I realised where my unnecessary spending was (clothes, gadgets and alcohol), saving became more rewarding and I feel a lot happier knowing that a) we have cash for any big purchases comimg up and b)there's a little emergency fund in place should anything go awry.

I have a company fuel card, so it's just 'home' stuff.

We spend £300 a month on food and I reckon I spend circa £150-£200 per month on 'living' expenses.

We don't go out to restaurants unless it's a special occasion and rarely visit pubs, etc. Don't seem to get time.

in hindsight I probably should have gone for a slightly more sensible company car than a maserati grancabrio - but they did say I could have any car I wanted !

Me, all per month:

Rent to parents - £250
Food - £200
Phone - £40
Car - £375
Petrol/Tax/Insurance - £300
Train - £100
Entertaining myself - £200

Leaves me a little to put towards holidays/savings/student overdraft repayments at the end of each month

Food - £150
Phone - £Nil
Car - £Nil
Petrol/Tax/Insurance - £300
Entertaining myself - £400

I think I spend too much on myself having fun, shouldnt do really, but its so easy to spend £80 in a night

Exclude fuel, bills but include food? What's the point ?
