I'm so bloody angry!

I have a mortgage with the above named bank. I tied into a 2 year deal 18 months ago, but now need to move house before my child arrives. I was aware I would need to pay a redemption fee on my mortgage if I wanted out, but I am happy to continue with them.

I wanted to buy my new house with my girlfriend, but because she has a small mark on her credit file, they wont accept her. Nevermind, I'll buy it on my own.

All was going swimmingly, until today. My application has been refused.

The reason for this is this: She (temporarily) lives at the house I am buying (her parents house) and will be living with me at the same house, so there will be no vacant possession. She needs to be on the application apparently. The problem is, they won't accept her as mentioned above.

I just want to buy this house on my own. Why is it so difficult?!

Because if the relationship blows up and she demands the house - Santander can't get their money back because the house has a sitting tenant. No?

Why not contact Scotal or one of the other brokers on here for help?
Have you checked your current Santander deal is definitely the best even if you take the redemption fees into account?
It may still be better to swap provider....

(Or just kick the girlfriend out for a while...) wink

Fair point, but she is signing a bit of paper at the solicitors stating she has no claim on the property.

My current redemption fee is in excess of 2k, which is pretty unreasonable but its what I agreed to.

Thanks for the heads up with the brokers. I am using a family friend who is a broker, but if it doesn't work out I will give them a shout.

It just seems very odd frown

I understand their reasoning in all honesty.

But for other reasons I view Santander to be atrocious.

Worst banking institute I've ever used... a couple of other major banks now have my savings and income.
