Years ago, when I were a nipper and this were all fields, my parents had a mortgage with a certain bank from the Citi (around early-mind 90's)

The monthly repayments were almost always in four figures. As a result their switched mortgages to another bank which is no part of the co-operative- which reduced their monthly repayments to <£300 per month.

Now mum seems to think there was a possibility she was being charged PPI, and would like to have it investigated- only the company she has asked say they need the account number from the original mortgage provider. She normally keeps all the paperwork, but sods' law, this is the one she cannot find.

So, after that ramble, is there anyway she would be able to get the account number from years and years ago. Is it as simple as calling up and asking for statement? Or is there another way?

Thanks

In lieu of no one else posting a response has your mother tried contacting the bank herself?

Hi guys

i'll be speaking to my mum about contacting the bank herself. I'm sure they will have a record of a mortgage being transferred?

There is a website called mylostaccount, it's free to use. Do your own research etc though.
