For the second month in a row (Last month, 13th, this month 11th) there's been a deposit of £20 into my bank account.

All it shows up as is "BGC Bristol" as if someone had paid into my account at a local branch.

How odd. Am I about to have all of my monies removed by a fraudster?

And, looking back, £10 in October... I'm genuinely confused.

It's not something like your gas supplier giving you a regular rebate as you're overpaying?

Doubtful, as if I remember correctly BGC stands for Bank Giro Credit, meaning that its physically been paid in over the counter of a bank.............

Precisely. Really odd. I very, very rarely do this...

Definitely not a gas supplier earlier as I had to have a spirited argument with an Indian chap the other day about why they shouldn't put my direct debit up by 50% given that I already had a surplus on the account!

Inform bank in writing, and ask them what to do with wrongly credited funds. Do not move them, as it's probably some sappy pensioner with the wrong a/c number. The local branch might remember which one it was, but that's their problem.

Are you a copper CC? Probably being melodramatic here but if I was a policeman Id be mildly nervous at mystery payments going into my account.

Yes, that's not a bad shout although the payments are very small, too small to be "brown envelope" style shenanigans.

I'll pop into the local branch tomorrow.

I had something similar, was getting £7 on the 1st of the month, bank couldnt tell me anything other than it was someone in a branch.

Now strangely i am receiving compensation from a fine that some scrote had to pay me, it was £200 that i was getting about £3.50 a month towards, that has stopped at the same time the £7 has, theres still money outstanding i think, but i cant be arsed to chase it up, im sure when hes out of jail next they will start taking it off his dole money again.

Actually, that's very interesting, I was awarded £50 compensation a while back after one of the local scrotes decided to express their displeasure at my choice of occupation and car and used my MX5 as a trampoline.... Mystery solved, maybe.

I doubt your occupation had anything to do with it.

Well, you're technically right... The fact that it was a horrific brush painted camomobile might have turned it into a bit of a target.

However the subsequent wing mirror damage and bent aerial were definitely because he knew what I did for a living after the arresting officers informed him what a stupid car it was to damage!

Some day he'll commit something unwise and serious, I look forward to meeting him then.

Aha, could be it then, was the same with me, caught 2 of them stood on my car, however they decided that damaging the car wasnt enough when i caught them.

So you can give him a stern telling off and he'll get 12 months probation? smile

It's not like in my day. Us crims' got a slap and a proper custodial sentence in proper Victorian prisons with no toilets and TV's.

Thankfully the crimes I deal with do, without exception, still attract long prison sentences wink
