Lazy ISA - Are all FTSE trackers the same bar charges?
Discussion
After the (possible) next crash I intend to shove all my ISA cash into a lazy ISA FTSE tracker till the market pops up again, its money I dont need any time soon.
Question is are all trackers the same, Im thinking of the Virgin FTSE all share one with 1% charges.
Is independent past performance data available? would I need it? I guess not if they are all the same (bar charges)

In theory they should be, but why just track a market when they are better performing funds where managers add value, albeit they also make mistakes but you are more likely to do better than a tracker even with higher fees.
My understanding was that most fund managers fail to beat the market?Fund managers and luck
Very interesting thread here worth a look for stress free investment

I would not put the money in the Virgin tracker - the fees are ridiculous! 1% every year with no cap...no thanks.
Just set up an S&S ISA and buy 'shares' in iShares FTSE 100 tracker. Most competitors don't charge a fee - and when they do (like Halifax who I am with) it is only small and also capped at £80 ish per annum.
Yep, best to use a low cost tracker.
HSBC seems to have the best FTSE trackers. Costs only 0.2x%, why waste 3x as much on fees with the 1% crew!?
Wrap it in a ISA and job done.
That being said, you might be waiting a very long time for it to drop to 5200.
I think markets are overbought, but depending on news they may not drop back for a while.
They may pull back to just under 6000, but US debt cieling, or a European implosion etc would need to happen for anything major IMO.
But of course trying to forecast these things is impossible.

That's a gamble as is all investing, my gamble is that the market is easily spooked and whilst offering value the sheep panic and you can rebuy your portfolio at less cost maybe missing a few divs.
I can't believe the crap in Spain is forgotten about forever - once in the news again the market will drop (I guess)
