I have an account with Very, and purchased an item on a Buy Now Pay 12 months basis.

I have been paying £10 a month for a few months, even though there is no obligation to pay anything for 12 months (at which time i'll pay the remaining balance so no interest is charged), but on my Credit Expert report, I have a negative factor which is in regards to this account, stating I am 1 month behind in the payments.

What is the best course of action to resolve this?

I will pay it off within the 12 months interest free, buy now pay later promo.

However if it has a continuing negative effect on my credit report for every month until i do, i will pay it off sooner.

It may be as simple as the system saying 'He can only afford £10pcm, therefore he is poor therefore a bad credit risk'. Dunno, I always buy outright or pay off the CC bill in full each month. If there's no benefit to stringing it out, you may as well get it over with and have an easier life.

Have you asked Very to see why your account is showing as 1 month behind?

+1 - I assume the negative score came from Very.

Years ago, I discovered by chance that I had a black mark on my credit score. It was from a company who had struck a deal with my employer allowing us cheap mobile phone deals. However, they screwed up the billing and told us all to ignore the bills until they resolved it - which took a few months. Turned out that their system had still seen the bills were not being paid, and automatically flagged me as a bad debt.

I wrote to the company explaining what had happened, and the mark on my credit was removed.
