Pisses me off when people get all defensive about saying what they earn etc.
I find it interesting to see how people live and cope....

After all living/vehicle costs I have about £2000 pm to play with.

Mostly of that goes on prostitutes and holidays, I rarely drink and don't smoke, the rest is just wasted .....

It might help you budget better if you include annual expenses such as car tax, insurance, breakdown cover and maintenance into that, and set aside an amount each month to cover these.

The budget planner on moneyadviceservice.org.uk is fantastic and can be downloaded as an Excel document.

I thought I had a decent amount of disposable income until I used it...

Silly answer. They get the jobs that pay well.

Reason. Someone has to get them, either through qualifications, luck, skill, who they know not what, etc etc

Most big league earners own businesses and not likely to post on this thread

Because the people that are on good salaries are going to be more likely to be willing to talk about it.

Yes. Also cars can be very expensive so they come somewhere to talk about expensive toys...

Usually see the opposite here. When there are polls lots earn in top tax bracket but most posts come from sub 40k bracket

Think I'm anonymous on here so don't really see the harm:

Age 30
Swindon
Live Alone
£36k salary.

Mortgage: £395
Service Charge: £92
Council Tax: £80
Mobile: £40
Sky TV/Phone/Broadband: £47
Contents Insurance: £12
TV License: £12
Car Lease: £204
Petrol: £240
Gas & Electric: £75
Water: £30

Leaves me with about £750 (after pension & student loan repayment deducted from pay).

£4k in shares & £4k owed on CC.

26, live in London and my rent is more than double your mortgage payment (I'm sharing a 2 bed flat, our combined rent is 4+ times what your mortgage payment is!). Does that answer your question?
