Hi all,

Just wondered if I could get any recommendations for decent honest mortgage brokers.

I'm coming up to the end of the third year of business which has been in profit since year one. Mortgage will need to be around £200k for a house valued around £850k. I have a guarantor if required.

Also happy to hear of any less-than-positive experiences or people on here who should be avoided. Discretion is guaranteed - PMs will be gratefully received.

Best regards
Ian

Avoind the brokers (and their £600 fee) and go straight to HSBC. They're very good as long as you've got your 3 years worth of accounts.

HSBC (my personal bank since birth, and company bank for a decade) were *rubbish*. Their reasoning for not giving me a mortgage was because one of the year's profits took a dip - note that there was still a profit, but I took 3 months out to do other things so it was lower than the other years. Messed me around while they were at it as well - the Mortgage 'manager' is nothing of the sort.

Halifax sorted me out a mortgage in principle in about 2 hours.
