P60 - Missing previous earnings
Discussion
Getting my paperwork in order to do my (first ever) self assessment.
I was made redundant at the end of 2012 and my previous employers were terrible with all my documents. I was well into my employment with my new company before a P45 turned up, and indeed I ended up filling in a P46.
As such my current P60 for 2012-2013, provided by my current employer, only shows what they've paid me (Jan-Apr), not what I've previously earned.
How can I get a complete one? I did provide my P45 to my new company when it finally arrived.

Your P45 would have been a 3 part form with a part for you to keep for your own records.I was made redundant at the end of 2012 and my previous employers were terrible with all my documents. Failing that, your current employer should be able to give you the required information from their copy of the P45.
When completing employment details on a Self Assessment tax return, you need to complete the income information for every employment you had during the tax year separately.
Therefore, the salary, tax, coding and employer details for job No.1 should be obtained from the P45 they gave you when you left (you are supposed to retain at least on part of the P45 for your own records)
The salary, tax, coding and employer details for job No.2 should be obtained from the P60 they gave you just after the end of the tax year.
The fact that previous employment income details from Job No.1 are not shown on the P60 you received in respect of job No.2 should not really be an issue =- providing you kept the documentation you are required by law to keep.
As has been mentioned, you SHOULD be able to obtain most (if not all) of the information for your salary up to the date you left job No.1 on the final payslip they gave you. This cannot be 100% guaranteed however because the P45 sometimes will include final weeks and adjustments that an employer may need to make when an employee leaves - such as redundancy pay, holiday pay etc etc.
