Any "sensible" suggestions with where to put 60k for 2 months, I will need it all in 2 months time so cant be risky but would be nice if it could generate something if only a little interest?

If there's two of you, go for one month on the premium bond draw?

a) Find a share that has gone up every month for the last 11 months. Spread bet it for 1 month. smile

b) High {laugh} interest account with 30 days notice.

c) Premium Bonds

Sadly the only sensible route, if the funds are needed, is to place them on the best bank deposit you can find.

There are no magic bullets.

premium bonds would be fine and you might get lucky. 30K max limit per person....usually off 30K in you get a few £50 per prizes per month. You could be lucky and get a bigger one

however, timing is the problem. Check the date you need to have the money in for the draw. I think it needs to be in for a month first, with 2 month timescale you might be lucky to make 1 draw....

Thanks for the suggestions, certainly doesn't seem to be any magic bullets...

I though premium bonds were a good suggestion but ive just missed the boat to get these in time, they have to be invested for a full calendar month before they are entered in to a draw, typically 7 days to process the payment so i would miss December as a full month, Jan would be the first full month with Feb being the draw entry month, I may need the money late Jan to early Feb. (House Purchase by the way)

Just have to accept a disappointing amount of interest for a couple of months I guess?

There is no way anyone 'usually' gets a few £50 prizes per month on £30k, those numbers couldn't stack up at all.

I did for a while myself over the last 2 years I held them....sold them all in 2009 though ..its just luck, so maybe I was lucky for the final 2 years
