Anyone else received an email today from refundsdept@hmrc.gov.uk

I have had a tax refund a couple of years ago, but it was sent via traditional snail mail. Has .gov got into the '90s with email or is this a scam?

The email requests that I 'Get Started' by entering a load of details...

Thoughts please

The IR do not notify refunds by Email. These scammers are getting altogether too clever. Unless you are absolutely certain of the source I would always avoid such unconfirmed emails.

Thanks for this. Although the email domain does not feature, the fact they do not issue refunds via email covers it off

Got the same e-mail the other day.

Main thoughts in my head were (Im not that lucky) and (Rebates come in an envelope with a cheque, not a request to contact HMRC)
However the P11D request letter I got today was genuine, thankfully easy to sort smile, lady on phone was very helpful.

As has been said scam, but if you do think you're owed some cash just register with HMRC online and check your account with them directly.
