Missus is now self employed. Company cars?
Discussion
Before anyone states get an accountant, we are :-)!
She went self employed last week and works from both home, and an office which is 15 miles away (50:50 time split pretty much).
What can she claim for car wise? If she got finance on a car, could she claim VAT back? Or can she just charge the 45p per mile thing for 10k miles?

Can't advise on the subtleties of finance, but she would need to be VAT registered to claim any VAT back.
Re the 45p/mile, I'm not sure driving to and from work is allowable, but stand to be corrected.
Another idea is to add up all motoring related expenses and claim a reasonable percentage to reflect the business/private split.

She could change it to either work permanently at home, or work, if it makes any difference.

Sounds like she would be seen to have 2 permanent places of work, so costs of travelling between the 2 would not be allowed.
BTW - what type of accountants are you if your asking these questions???
David
I'm not an accountant? Maybe the first line isn't clear. We are getting an accountant, however I thought I'd ask to see what people on this here forum's experience is (Seeing how everyone on here is a powerfully built director) BTW - what type of accountants are you if your asking these questions???
