Good evening all.

At the moment I have an ISA and a savings account with TSB. My ISA earns 1% interest and my savings is a whopping 0.75%!!

Through my father's work I can get a savings account which pays around 4.25% - 5% interest due to dividends along with an ISA of 2.25%. Which as i'm sure you'll agree, it's very very good.

I don't keep a lot of money (~£200) in my current account due to little out goings and everything else goes in the savings.

I'm 19 and will be looking for a mortgage in a few years so what I am asking is will it matter if someone does a credit check and sees I keep very little money in my bank? Even though I have money elsewhere is savings.

Basically, does it matter that my savings aren't with my current account provider?

I hope the above makes sense.

Many thanks all smilebeer

No, it doesn't matter where your savings are kept.

A credit check shows how likely you are to be able to repay debt, it doesn't tell them how much money you have.

A credit check only shows your borrowings, not your savings. Lenders aren't interested in what you do with your money, it's what you do with other peoples money they are interested in.....
