Hello.

I moved house 1st December last year, and immediately updated the electoral register by writing.

A month later, I note my credit file is not showing this info as being updated. As the rest of my addresses on my credit file have updated, this is now affecting my credit score. I contact the council who state it will be updated on March 10th, and there is nothing they can do about updating it sooner.

So I wait until March 10th, then check my file. Still not updated. I phone Checkmyfile who state it will take " a month or so" for my file to be updated, even though the information has been passed over by the council. They say it cannot be updated sooner.

So, four months after moving, my credit file is incorrect and my credit score is now less than average, where as it will be (so informed by Checkmyfile) above average once these details are updated.

Anything I can do to speed it up?

Thanks.

Well, thanks!

Isn't there something wrong in this modern age when it takes computers four months and counting to up date some information?

I'm not sure what other answer you could expect?

You've updated the local authority and the credit bureau's, who have already told you that it can't be speeded up any more than it is?

Things like this have to go through a process and each party will update the next party at the next point in time that they report to that agency. For example, credit card companies often report your payment history at a specific date in the month, irrespective of your individual payment date which is why when you make a payment, it's not reflected on your credit file until at least the next month, dependant upon when that company reports to the credit bureau.

The problem is they haven't updated for months after having the info though. The rest of my file has updated but is now at odds with the electoral register info.

I'm looking at getting a car loan and this is affecting my credit file, now for four months and counting......
