Reverse/cancel payment from bank account to credit card?
Discussion
Hi,
My girlfriend logged on to her internet banking for her current account and her credit card last night. Current account is with First Direct, credit card is with HSBC.
She highlighted the balance of the credit card (thinking it was £90 something), copied and pasted it into the payment amount in her current account payment screen and made the payment. However, unbeknownst to us, Admiral car insurance had auto renewed her car insurance at a cost of over £750, meaning the actual credit card balance was £900 something! (there was no letter notifying us that insurance was due for renewal BTW).
This has left her in her overdraft. The car insurance renewal was ridiculous, so they're refunding her credit card and we're switching to esure (who were £330!!) so that's all sorted now, but it still leaves a huge credit on her credit card from the refund, and a debt in her current account from the payment.
So, will HSBC refund the credit back to her FD current account? I know this is a question for the bank, but she works all hours and won't have a chance to ring them tonight, and I'd like to be clued up before we do.
Thanks for any help.
Dan
