I've noticed that we are now getting more Euros to the pound, i thought it was about 1.10 for a long time then recently noticed it was 1.20 now 1.27 'ish.

Would it be a good time to buy a few grand ? Never done it before, what/who is the best way to do it ?

UK economy especially after the Scottish referendum poses no particular threats to potential investors; the Pound is therefore a very safe investment.
On the other hand most Euro area countries have difficulties and even Germany has slowed down a lot.
Furthermore the risks of deflation in the Euro area are getting real with some Countries already touched (Italy).
Despite the opposition of Mrs. Merkel it is possible that the ECB might take the decision to print more Euros to stimulate the economy and avoid risks of spreading deflation.

Under those circumstances the most possible scenario is that the Euro will further drop in value. It is generally expected to be as low as 1,2 US$ / 1€ by the end of this year.

Therefore I would not recommend to buy Euro at the moment. Being myself in a Euro country I'm looking to buy US$ and Pounds.
