Possible tax implications working in US for 12 months
Discussion
I am required to work in the US for anywhere between 9 - 15 months. Accommodation may be paid by the company, I am trying to find out some information of whether this is seen as a benefit and thus I have to pay tax on it.
Does owning or renting a house in the UK make any difference?
My family will also be living there as well.
Thanks,

As Eric is alluding to, if you become non UK tax resident then no need to worry about the UK tax position as you will not be taxable in the UK on employment income relating to overseas duties. If you remain UK tax resident and are being seconded by your UK company then there is either temporary workplace relief or there is a specific part of the tax legislation that exempts accommodation provided for duties performed wholly overseas.
You also need to consider the US tax position as you will obviously be taxable there. They have a 12 month "away from home" rule whereby the accommodation costs can be exempt/partially exempt. You need proper advice on your specific circumstances in both the UK and USA.
