Investment thoughts - where now? (stocks and shares ISA)
Discussion
The new allowance kicks in this week, so I have some more money to invest. Currently my "portfolio" is 1/3 FTSE 250 ETF, 2/3 FTSE 100 ETF, so my thinking is that a little bit of diversification is in order. I have the full £15,240 to play with, where does PH think I should be putting it?
I was thinking about a UK listed S&P 500 fund of some sort for at least some of the money, does anyone have any experience there?

Also take a look at Hargreaves Lansdown website. They're not the cheapest but it a great site and keeps it all simple and clear.

I'm fine with the basics really, just looking for thoughts of people on where might be stupid to put money more than anything. I've been looking at tulip bulb futures...;)http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

UK to US equity correlation is around 98% if you discount currency, so not that much of a change in risk truth be told.
I didn't think it was that close - certainly, this prettily coloured matrix tells a different story.
Even taking the currency into account that's not really that bad, all things considered, and it seems the long term trend has been for the S&P to outperform the FTSE by a teeny little bit.
