Sending Funds Abroad

I have a need to send some money from the UK to a NZ bank account (£20K)

Obviously I'd like the maximum amount to be received at the other end.

Do the PH masses have any recommendations on who to use - from what I've read so far - using my bank I'd need to go in and bend over and brace myself.

£10k max plus about £35 charges on most UK banks.

Open up a Forex account (UKForex is ok) and you'll get charged a favorable exchange rate only.
You'll need to be in the UK to set up an account (unless you use a VPN!) and a UK number so they can ring you.

Thanks for that - I had looked at UKForex previously and they were on the potential list.

For smaller amounts to the right account in the shortest timescale then I doubt that you will find any other company that can offer a significant advantage.

I'm not sure what the limit is, but I recently transferred quite a wedge between my UK and Norwegian bank accounts using TransferWise, have used them quite a lot over the last year or so. The money normally clears in 2/3 days!

EDIT: OK just checked and TransferWise has a maximum transfer of £1m.

Just to close this and thanks for the other suggestions.

I ended up using UK Forex. Process was painless and I was able to phone them up and get a slightly better rate than their quoting system was offering.

Money arrived in the NZ bank account two days later.

Just what I wanted.
