Hi

I have sold an item for £100 and the person I have sold it to has done a bank transfer. I gave them my details; they did the transfer; and it is showing on my account described as a "Counter Credit". I don't know the person as it was arranged via a forum that we are both members of.

Could somebody in the know please advise when this money is safely mine so I can release the goods?

I am with Barclays if this has any bearing

The obvious thing is to ask Barclays...

It does not sound like a faster payment more like a cheque deposit. In my experience their guidance on clearance times are rather random, so best to wait at least 5 clear days or 2 weeks if you are worried.

Likely this means they went into the bank and deposited it over the counter rather than through internet banking.

Ring Barclays and check, but if it was cash, its an instant credit and they can't get it back.

No as I said, it was definitely internet banking: this has happened before when having a deposit via the internet (then I wasn't concerned regarding the time it took to clear).

Ringing the bank is a right IPITA tbh hence asking here smile

Its been over a week now so I'm happy anyway

Cheers smile
