Annual Travel Insurance Query

I get travel insurance as part of my deal with Lloyds bank.
I called them last week to query the cover. They asked me about any pre existing conditions and I told them that I take occasional medication for IBS and I have treatment booked for a facet joint injection to relieve back pain. As a result of telling them this they said that I would not be covered for either condition for a holiday I have already booked for this October.
My query is this. Why would I not be covered for the October trip given that I booked it BEFORE the doctor advised that I needed the treatment. Also why should the cover for the IBS be stopped when the 2 conditions are unrelated.
I intenc calling the insurance co again next week . In the meantime does anybody have any advice to offer.
