Buying in Germany - Import Duties / Taxes ??

Hello all,

Some advise, please.
I am considering buying a new guitar from Germany.
I have checked on a web site that told me I will have to pay VAT and Import duties.
My German seller tells me no, he has shipped to the UK before over 15 years and I will not pay any duties.

Any Tax experts on here who can please advise ??

I would not bank on the above.

I've bought stuff from Germany and if it comes via parcel force then expect a letter from them and additional charges to be paid before it gets delivered.

Should not have anything to pay due to being in the EU but be on the safe side and ask the seller to mark the guitar as "Warranty replacement".

Mark it where?

There is no customs paperwork for EU shipments therefore writing that is a waste of time.
